According to XJTLU Digital Collection Development and Management Policy, the following criteria should apply when the school/academy propose new resources to the Library.

  • The digital resource must support the curricular and research needs of the University. There should be a target audience and an expected level of use. For one-time use, it is suggested to retrieve the material via Interlibrary Loan Service.
  • The content of the digital resource should come from an authoritative publisher/vendor on the subject.
  • Preferably, the digital resource should be available for remote access via web, the authentication prefers IP address rather than other methods, such as individual accounts.
  • It is preferred to subscribe to subject packages instead of individual journal or e-book in term of cost-effectiveness.

Please refer to the section "5. Selection Guidelines for Fee-Based Electronic Resources" in the above policy.
